Dear Readers,
Thank you so much for supporting my blog. This week I’m celebrating its first anniversary. In appreciation, I have made a donation in your honor to NAMI. May is actually National Mental Health Awareness month — one of my passions. Each week I have written a lighthearted story about the challenges of aging, hoping to bring some joy into your lives. I hope you have gotten a few laughs out of them.
I’m pleased to say I’m growing — I’m averaging 500 views each week now, sometimes over 600. As more readers find my blog, I’m hoping they will go back to some of my earlier posts, especially the one called “Just Do It.” ( You can click on this link to read it now.) It explains how a former student gave me the courage to publish on Substack.
And, a big thank you to Cathey Cone, who writes Footnotes from the Flipside, for giving me the idea in the first place. If you would like to try YOUR hand at blogging, just reach out. I’d love to encourage you.
Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote, “Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself” must be true. I feel so blessed each week while writing this blog. Along with keeping a joy journal and taking dozens of photographs, it helps me look for the beauty and humor continually in this messy world.
I also love reading your Comments. If you haven’t had the courage to comment yet, please “Just Do It.” Sharing stories is a great way to connect with others.
Wish me luck as I begin my second year of That’s Good To Know. I can’t believe I have written 52 blog entries all ready. Whew! Did I really do that? Can I do it again???
It’ll Be OK.
Love,
Jan xoxo

COMMENT: What do you do for your good mental health?
A friendly reminder that I will NOT be monetizing my blog so you don’t have to Pledge support. But, if you want to tell your friends about That’s Good To Know, I’d love that! ~J.
Thank you Jan for another week of your writing.I always read and comment though.I turned 80 in April I was scared because I know when we reach this age people get problems with health issues.I just live one day at a time and I surrender my life to Jesus.Everyday I thank Him for waking me up and ask him for strength each day.I still drive and continue my routine I am selling our business called Before and After School Care called Active Kids’ Zone.Hopefully I can close the deal this year and I am ready to rest and serve the Lord.I don’t know how but I attend Bible study, prayer meeting and sing in church. The whole family is heading to the Philippines for a family reunion in July .It is a 13 hours flight I pray for safe travel.I have 3 children and 5 grandchildren there .I need to see everyone before the inevitable time comes. Thank you again Jan for your blog I love reading it and commenting on it. I will be away July and August. Please pray for me. Weather in Alberta is good now no more snow.I am beginning to see green grass, trees and flowers blooming. The birds came back from the south.Thank you God for your creations.
Congrats on a year of fun reading and friendship! I'm glad to have had a tiny piece of encouraging you to share your fun self with the world. I look forward to another year of looking at the humorous side of this phase of life we are in. We all need a laugh at LEAST once a week and you provide that. Here's to all the fun stories to come!
