I am very happy to loose control! I now just go and enjoy the holidays and family get togethers with out all the preparations! Glad you had a great time.
It is our time to enjoy the talents of our children even if it is a little odd! They are good planners , decorators, gracious hosts and hostesses, etc. and cooks! We are the guest and they deserve the accolades!
Jan, I loved the shoes but I also noticed those great legs in them, I resonate with all your thoughts, find myself taking a back seat and just enjoying and observing.❤️Hugs.
I guess I go with the flow on some things then on some other things I loose control. Specially if something isn’t going the way I want it to. I get very upset when trying things out and they don’t go. I get very frustrated quickly. I’ve always been that way. I use to have patients it never bothered me before. (It was when I was much younger. I don’t have patients like I use to though I wish I was younger and had it back. Oh well maybe as I get older things will change who knows😂
Oh, I get that, Shari -- it's difficult to go with flow sometimes. I've been doing pretty well lately except for long, unorganized, do-nothing committee meetings.. I've been huffing my way right to the door.. Not nice -- but necessary for my sanity. Ha! I use to have a picture on my wall that said, "God grant me Patience -- NOW!" Take care! xoxo
That's a vital lesson to learn. I'm finding it to be a much more relaxing and enjoyable approach. Your granddaughter's wedding sounded lovely, and I thought the orange shoes were perfect.
Thanks, Janice! LA is so different than Upper Sandusky, Ohio as you know. But it sure was fun. I've been recovering from jet lag for days. Well, that's what I'm sticking to -- to explain this lazy week. Ha! Hope all is well with you! {{Hugs}}
What a magic day you've had at your granddaughter's wedding. And to be there with someone you've spent 57 years with. And that you can still stand! Sometimes you get a little piece of Heaven on earth, and that was one of those days. Well worth the taxi fare.
I'm thrilled to see the photo taken with you in your bright orange shoes!! I've been waiting for a glimpse.
Congratulations to the beautiful wedding couple and celebrating you were second table seated. I look forward to that position someday. Loved the article and the images!! Fun!!
Thanks so much, Patti ~ the shoes turned out to be perfect. The only thing I noticed where I might have been out of style was my "pulled-up" hairdo. I may have been sporting a 60's look. Ha Ha! Everyone else seemed to have their hair down long?? Oh well... I'm the grandma. xoxo
I notice in so much of what we both share how much you and I are alike, Juliann. Today I am celebrating an online friend who is "right there" with me. {{Hugs}}
This was lovely Jan.....Jim and I will be married 60 years the 7th of August this year. We still are in control....of our lives and very greatful for that and the community in which we live. ..still is a great place to have the ability to recognize the warmth and caring of those all all around us....the Key: Keep Moving ,keep sharing ,and continue to trust, honor and respect those around you. Wishing the best to you and your family.
Thanks, Rose. I admire you, Jim and family. I'm hoping Stoney & I get to 60 years. We're still pretty active, but are enjoying not being "the leaders" all the time now. We took a dinner cruise down the Potomac River on our 50th anniversary. A Kenyan attache and his wife asked us our secret to a long marriage. I like your answer key. I'm going to keep it handy. Happy Anniversary a few months early. {{Hugs}}
I get you, Karen. I've had difficulty letting go of some programs I started, some friendships that ran their course, and some beliefs I've had for years. But in the end, it's made room for more blessings. Wishing us all happiness in our aging journeys. {{Hugs}}}
Congratulations to you and Stoney gaining a new Grandson!! I read Mom's journal from 1989 yesterday. You and Stoney were mentioned a few times, from visits to Lima, golfing and trips you all shared as friends. I can only imagine the great fun you had and all the great fun you all could have had as you all got older and retired, "losing that control as you age!!!" Love that you 2 are losing it together after almost 58 years!! XO
Oh, Brenda ~ losing your mom & dad were some of the saddest moments in our lives, but we celebrate the time we did have with both of them. I can just imagine the stuff we would have gotten into if they were still here. Ha! Thanks for your kind words. You've definitely got the Batton genes. xoxoxo

Definitely, I agree!!! I only got a bit teary-eyed when I thought about them being MINE. Proud wife, mom & grandma! xoxo
I agree, Diane. Rick is our chief chef now-a-days. It's their turn now, and everyone is going great. xoxo

Ah, thanks, Rita ~ they are getting a bit worn with age, but they still work. Thankfully! Glad we are both enjoying the "back seat." xoxo

Thanks, Rose -- it was magical. After 6 1/2 hours on the plane -- on the way home -- I wasn't sure we'd make 58 years. Ha Ha! {{Hugs}}

Noooo, you're hair was perfect. I don't know about you but my long hair needs to be up for looking volumized, haha, you played modern grandma well!!
I am right there with you.

Yes. We have much in common. 🤩

Wonderful telling of a beautiful occasion. I find letting go of control is one the hardest and one of the best parts of getting older. 🤗💕

I love your perspective on life! Enjoyed seeing the pictures of a wedding. 💕
Thanks, Carol -- believe it or not, I thought of you doing the ceremony. YOU were there when this family all started. {{Hugs}}
It was an honor to be there as you started your life together! 💕
