Yes! My husband insists he has to load the dishwasher because I do it 'wrong.' Huh. The dishes still come out clean, don't they? Being married to a military man means someone always has to be the Private First Class. 🫤

He cooks, I clean. Unless he cooks and cleans. I'm not a kitchen person. And having never been married until 62, my habits leave a bit to be desired. Instead of my husband gently chastising me or showing me a better way we both find it easier to let him do his thing! However I can clean a mean bathroom and deep clean the entire house with elegance and grace. He's never criticized or made a negative comment on my 'rest of the house responsibility.' Great read, as always!!

Where did you find this awesome husband at 62? What a blessing to have someone who doesn't criticize you. I'm awaiting another entry in your blog. xoxo

A miracle, that's how I found my husband. (I'm slowly gearing back up to start publishing, but still not sure how to move forward!! xoxo

Such a fun read....my husband and I worked out a system...he would help clean the kitchen, he did all the grilling..when he retired he took over many of the household jobs including cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning and laundry. He had a schedule...Thursday was a laundry and cleaning day. There were some things I had to just smile and go with..like when some whites turned pink in laundry when something red was accidentally in the load. Evening meals were usually a surprise..he actually came up with some good recipes....I was still teaching when he retired so it was nice having things done..even if it wasn't the same way I did it.

I like having things tidy and I drive my husband crazy because I'm always putting things away and then he can't find them. He cooks, I do cleanup and dishes. He's a messy cook, but I live with it because I hate to cook. Beyond that, the house is mine. On days he decides to make the bed, it throws my routine off! And he doesn't do it like I do!!! We do get set in our ways, don't we? Fun blog this morning, Jan!

Ha! Made me laugh when you wrote about making the bed, Cathey. 🛌 Every once in awhile my husband tries that too. Never seen anything like it. 😂 He actually got a kick out of this blog. Whew!

My uncle was like your dad but maybe my aunt didn’t trust him with any dish. lol

That's what I'm thinking about my dad. My "businessman" brother-in-law who had never washed a dish before volunteered once. We ended up having to take him to the ER -- he cut his hand badly on a broken glass??? Ha!

I loved reading. I’m now 70 but my dad would help my mom with the dishes and he did not how to make beds and vacuum. He trained our maid to make the beds. lol. My husband does too great training from working as a janitor.

Welcome, Lucinda! I know you love painting too. I really enjoy seeing your work. I don't think my dad ever washed a dish in his life. Probably where I got my idea of gender roles. xoxo

My least favorite household chore is dusting. When my husband retired and I was still working he took over doing the household chores, which was great, even though he didn’t do things the same as me, I was okay with that…even the pink laundry when a red something was in load of light colors…

Dusting??? Please, come to my house. My daughter left a butt print in the dust on our piano bench last week. Yikes! My husband does his own laundry regularly now, but early in our marriage he washed one of my sweaters & turned into a wrinkled doll-sized costume. Ha! I would have loved to have come home from teaching to someone else cooking. Thanks for sharing. {{Hugs}}

I think mine is cooking as well. 65 years of cooking a couple of meals a day - that's about - 47,450 - but whose counting? And so true, t I would gladly cook more if there were someone other than me to cook for.

Janice ~when my husband isn't around I eat the weirdest things -- crackers & cheese, a dab of potato salad, spinach dip & chips, etc. I don't know why, but I'm really insecure about cooking so I don't enjoy it. I'm sure it's lonely eating by yourself most of the time. I try to remember that when I'm griping. I think of you often. xoxo

Morning, Halina! The thought that it’s going to go on forever is exactly what gets to me sometimes. 😂. But then I think of woman like you who would probably like their husbands beside them “scrapping the Teflon off the frying pan.” Thanks for commenting & sharing your journey with me. ❤️
