When I was young, I was in really good health. Matter-of-fact, once during middle age when I called to make a doctor’s appointment, they said they had moved my records to storage because they didn’t think I was their patient anymore . Ha!
Recently, however, it seems as if the Universe is trying to tell me something.
In February I was super busy putting on a production of M*A*S*H to raise funds for mental health awareness. I was racing through our kitchen one night in my bare feet, and suddenly the Universe stabbed with a shard of glass. On my way to Urgent Care a month later, I think I heard Her whisper, “Slow down.”
This spring I was in a bloody battle with our bushes. I was determined to haul water to my window boxes when the Universe poked my leg with an evergreen. On my way to Urgent Care a week later, I think I heard Her say, “Slow Down.”
And in between stabbing and poking me, the Universe spun me around for a couple weeks until I could hardly walk. I went to an occupational therapist, and she put the rocks in my ears back in place. As my head was hanging over the table, I think I heard the Universe say, “Slow Down.”
But the funniest thing happened on my recent vacation in Florida. My daughter, niece and I were taking pictures in front of a beautiful sunset off the coast of Longboat Key. After we took some awesome photos of the girls jumping in the surf, I ran out into the water and said I wanted to try leaping into the air too. I think the waves must have been too loud because I didn’t hear the Universe saying, “Slow down” — when she pushed me.
I’m pretty sure, I’ll be going to the chiropractor next week… Ha!
Ok, Universe, I hear you! But how about giving me a break. I don’t really want to “Slow Down.” OMG did I say BREAK???
It’ll Be OK.

COMMENT: Has the Universe been trying to tell you something lately?
I loved reading this ! Jan just keep doing what you love the most. As I always say age is only a number. You are as old as you feel like. I remember when I was in my early twenties I used to call the people in their 50’s older people, when I turned 50 last year I realised how stupid it was of me to even say that as I still feel now like I felt when I was twenty , I don’t feel old in anyway. We really say some dumb things when we are young !😁🤣
I feel the same way Jan. I am not listening to the Universe. I fell off a curb the day before I was to go on vacation last October. I fell and didn’t know how to get up. A man was driving into the parking lot and he assisted me along with a woman who was 100 pounds lighter than me and they helped me up. They walked me to a bench and the woman got me a bring of water. OMG did I feel OLD. I profusely thanked them and went to get my haircut because I couldn’t go on vacation looking like a wild woman. These past years I have slowed down. But when Graham and Kerry were in Ontario at the CanAm show I said “The hell with it, I’m going”. It was a long drive and I had company with another THC member and we talked and laughed and was in our glory when we saw GW and KJ. It sparked a fire in me to keep going. My mom always said (and I think I mentioned this before) Go while your feet can take you. I’m still going…slower…but will all the enthusiasm and adventure I can muster up!☀️
