Why is it we get our 2nd set of teeth at 5 when 50 would be a far better age?

This was a 💯 truth.....couldn’t agree more! I really enjoyed reading this with my morning coffee..,thank-you for the laughs!

OMG that made me laugh -- because it's so true. I need a tooth replacement right now for an implant I had taken OUT. Half the time I'm trying to grin sideways in pictures to hide the gap. ha ha! xoxo

You hit the nail right on the head! What you pondered is so true and actually fun to think about! Well, sort of... I ‘ve

always been pretty strong and healthy and now when I have the time and finances to go I can’t walk very far or long because of sciatic nerve pain and arthritis! Not fair! Thanks for this post for us to ponder

Oh, that darn arthritis! I'm starting to feel it in my hands. Hard to even hold on to a glass sometimes. About 5 years ago I had a heart stent put in. That really threw me for a loop -- because I hadn't been to a doctor in 8 years and I thought I was invincible. Ha! Take care! xoxo

“Ain’t” it the truth?!? We never know what’s next around the corner for us! It’s hard to understand why but I am so glad that we people in life that understands! Day by day we continue to live our best life ... or at least try to do so! Have. A a wonderful day! 5-25-23

Karen, same for me....I know I need to keep moving to loosen this old joints but getting going sometimes is hard.

It is a bit sad but oh so true, Jan. I am right there with you on these "getting older" (as Mom would say) experiences. At almost 65, I am questioning why my body is on the downslide too. Mental health to a small point staring too. Like, what's next for me as I am close to my retirement, in this crazy thing we call life. As always, you have brightened my morning. Totally smiling at your photo and photo title!! Also have to add, a big fan of Joan Rivers ;) XO

Brenda -- you will love retirement. Just make sure you have something special to do the first week or so you're done with your job -- like a trip you always wanted to go on, etc. I had a play lined up to direct at Star. Give yourself an awesome treat. xoxo

Thank you Jan ......actually planning a trip with my girls to NYC (bucket list for this gal, bonus it's with them!) couple months after retirement!!

My mom would say to me you will get old one day. I am there.

Susie ~ my sister and I scoffed when my mom told her not to build a two-story house. Twenty years later my sister says, "Why didn't I listen to Mom? These steps are killing me!" Ha! xoxo

Jan...loved this! Totally agree with all your why’s, especially the sleep and weight ones. Another one for me is why now that I have the time to do all the things I said I wanted to do when I retired, I don’t do it like quilting or card making. Interesting how those things have changed!

Oh, Linda -- I get that! I used to break my neck to get to the golf course. Wanted to play in every tournament scramble, etc. Now that I have the time I don't have the desire. Darn! xoxo

Expand full comment

That’s exactly ....the desire and motivation is not there...now that I’m going away for 10 days I started cutting fabric for next quilt!

That's what I said, "Life is ass-backwards." Hope to see your quilt if you ever get it done. ha ha! Have fun on your trip. xoxo

I agree in principle, Jan,but how about I can get by with saying exactly what I mean when I want to say it? I can also tease people with impunity. My former students include a car mechanic I can trust to the moon; a pastor who is no longer disgruntled because I went down to the practice football field and dragged him aside and told him he had to switch to my college prep level English class where he had to study "A Tale of Two Cities" and write a term paper. Last Sunday he told me I "streched" him and he was grateful. There's more, but that's all for now.

Oh so true, Patty -- but that’s another whole blog. 😊 Xoxo

I could relate to a great deal of what you wrote. Life has different phases. I enjoyed the earlier ones, even with the struggles. But now life is so much more stress free and you can give to your children and grandchildren and really enjoy that.

Expand full comment

You are right, there sure is a lot less stress. My grandchildren are all grown up now living full, exciting lives far away. I AM enjoying watching their adventures & talking with them on the phone. Life is good, but funny! Looking forward to hearing about your Canada trip. Xoxo

I totally agree with you! Lately, I was wondering why I don't like to go out anymore, I blamed it on covid because I became withdrawn, and also Lima's traffic, but I must admit it's because I've entered my third age.

Oh, Elizabeth -- I was feeling the same thing sitting in the drive thru at McDonald’s today. Why didn’t I just stay home?! 😂 😠

All I can say is....it used to be a lot easier to put on my underwear after my morning shower.

Hilarious, but true! There was a lot less of that Victoria Secret bikini underwear we wore when we were young to tug on. Not! Ha ha! xoxo

Jan I just was able to sit down to read your blog. Though only 58 I can agree with a lot of what your saying the eating what ever you like or fitting into anything you want or staying out till Dawn and doing it all over again the next weekend. Now that’s all changed. I could do any of that any more just exercising makes me tiredLOL. We need a Time Machine when we want to reverse time even if it’s only for a moment. Thanks for sharing Jan I really loved it.

Funny, but true Jan.My experience this weekend. Had a bit too much to drink yesterday. It will take me a day to fully recover. I can remember. Ready to party again the following day.🤣

That is definitely true!!! Happy recovery weekend. 🤕 Xoxo

Words of TRUE wisdom with humor and just the right length (morning uplift!).

Thanks, Vicki ~ so funny when you say just the right length. I gave the keynote address at the Middle School Awards program the other night. Some one told me when I was introduced they heard someone say, "Ah, ok it's Mrs. Stoneburner. This will be long." Surprised them! But someone thinks I talk a lot. They must know me. Ha ha! xoxo

Loved this . We older people can agree with you. I know I do. Thank you for sharing.

Excuse the typos! They drive me crazy but that’s what I get for not proofing!!

No worries! Most of the time I proof and still end up with the weirdest combination of letters & words. Ha! xoxo
