The doctors here are young too...one of the signs that my friends and I are getting older is that many of our conversations are about our illnesses....

Ha ha! Oh, Elizabeth, my friends & I swore we wouldn’t do that either, but… 😂

That’s a sign of old age I’m told…talking about all your ailments. I try hard not to.

That’s what I heard too, but I still fell into the trap. 😂

Great story Jan. How blessed you’ve been to see the fruit of your labors in these young adults. And…they all remembered you. Hope you are all better now!

My mind took a different turn. Do you know of the song Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin?

"And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon

Little boy blue and the man in the moon

"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when"

But we'll get together then

You know we'll have a good time then."

My guess is that you were there for them and they remembered you fondly.

Janice — I’m going to have to look up that song. 🎶 I hope I was there for them. I tried hard. 😊 Thanks!

I have no doubt that you were.

Young doctors ar OK as I am pretty clued in about my health. But I do like a mid-lifer as a dentist!

I get you on that. My dentist looks like a teenage girl. She just graduated from dental school & bought my old dentist’s practice. Makes me nervous. 😬

Scary!

Yeap - so true!

So true! Those doctors are looking like high schoolers these days. And you know the nurses are in the background saying, "Dr., there's a little old lady in Room 5 who thinks she has......" However, thankfully none of them are my former students. Just my kids' friends....

You are right! I’d love to be a fly on the wall to hear what they say after I leave! 😂

Yes they are.

Everybody is younger than me in business. It doesn't bother me except if I'm talked down to, or called a name. I try not to get defensive, that only makes it worse.

I started working online due to the above. I'm taking a job in 20 days. The average ages in management appears to be 20s and 30s, the volunteers are all elderly, the paid workers 40s and 50s... I'm 66 and hired as paid. We shall see how this rolls. I did this as an experiment to write on aging gracefully while having (or choosing) to work. I needed some inspiration for writing and wasn't going to get get it staring out the window! This was done spontaneously and I'm already questioning my sanity in doing this... 😏 but keeping an open mind.

Patti — can’t wait to hear how it goes. Sometimes I can’t believe I’m 77 and probably

Couldn’t get hired if I wanted to. I’m enjoying a lot of volunteer work now. Good Luck! 🍀👍

Well you don't look or act 77 from your entertaining writing and photo... is this a politically correct compliment to voice? Haha, we shall see how this experiment pans out.

So true! We now have a legal assistant, financial assistant, and a medical professional to help manage our lives! But it’s nice to have free consultations.

Diane ~ Are these your own great “kids”? 😊

Jan, though I may not have bumped into (pun intended) quite as many former students as you have (I discovered I have double vision), I can't think of a single surgeon, optician, dental hygienist/dentist, pharmacist...and the list goes on (remember that old song "The Beat Goes On" ?), that's older than me! ACK! SO KIND OF YOU TO POINT THIS OUT! I do hope you're all recovered from the flu, and all the lovely symptoms that go with it. It's no fun at all so I hear. Having had Covid and knowing the effects of that first hand, my condolences for what you went through. Anyway, I do hope that these "kids" who are treating us were themselves treated well growing up.
