I feel I am more like our beautiful Mom everyday, love it! Very aware that driving is getting different as I am aging, not scary yet :) Since retired not driving everyday anymore. Wishing you, Jan, a super great Mom's day!! Love n Hugs
My mom was the proverbial Git-er-done gal. She coined that saying before the Cable Guy made it famous 😂
I'm profoundly grateful that Mama Peggy shared our home in Florida -- four hours north of Ft Myers on the Gulf Coast -- for the last twenty years of her life.
Her life graduation -- her words -- was in 2022 at the age of 96.
I became Mom's transporter for her final ten years because she was NOT a slow driver. EVER!
You'll love her lifelong slogan:
"To stay above the grass, get your butt up"
I'm drafting her book, Mama Peggy's Wisdom but am considering calling it Mama Peggy's Hugs.
Oh, I do love your mom's lifelong slogan. I'd actually use it for your book title. Whenever my mom & I'd be golfing there in Florida and I'd complain about my game, Mary would say, "It's better up here than under the grass." We both must have had awesome moms. Thanks for sharing, Donna. It made my day. xoxo
Haha, I yell out the same thing when I encounter a rude driver. I loved Sanibel Island, the magical place in Florida for shelling (one anyway).
I live in a neighborhood where there are persons 80 and above driving down the wrong side of the road when they see me on my bike... all well and good until a car is coming from the other way and they forget I'm in my own lane and veer back too close practically knocking me off my bike. I can't tell you how many cars I dodge on my street where the speed limit is 15mph, ever ridden a bike going faster than a car?
Loved the photo of your mom, Happy Mother's Day to you!!
Patti -- you are right about Sanibel being a magical place for shelling. I've got so many awesome shells I don't need any more. Well, maybe. Ha! Be careful! Those darn old drivers. Soon to be one. Ha! {{Hugs}}
You'll never believe it, but when I was putting on lipstick one day (about 10 years ago) I saw my mother's mouth in the mirror! Man, that was a surprise. I suppose it could have been worse. I am now about 2 years older than my mother when she died, so perhaps those genes aren't so bad after all!
Have you noticed a difference in your driving yet, Juliann? I can't believe there will be a day I can't drive, but I'm planning how i want my golf cart to look now. Ha Ha!
I am much more careful and slower. I absolutely hate driving in Dallas! We don’t have bus transportation in Arlington. We do have special transportation for the elderly so I will use it when necessary.

Happy Mother's Day to you too, Brenda! Every time I see you I see Bev. What a wonderful thing. xoxo

Which rings true for you?

So cool, Jan! I never thought about using that as the title!
And, I love your mom. They must have been distant cousins.
Sister, we had badass moms :-D

Oh gosh, Rose - that's really quite awesome actually. Better than hearing my dad's words coming out of my mouth. Ha! Thanks for sharing that. {{Hugs}}
I love this. At 75 approaching 76, I worry about the time when I won’t be able to drive.
