Yay, flamingo sister ~ I think I saw that one. I wonder if my two big flamingos are related to them? My daughter begged me not to post another picture of them on FB. Ha!
Last photo I took )not counting screenshots) was of recent Calgary snow. Like Cathey, I'm taking more photos with Substack and BBQ Chatters posts in mind. Since getting a pretty darn good phone camera (Samsung galaxy s10) I take way more multiple shots and then choose the best later. With Ben's help, I'm shopping for a new phone with an even better camera. Will be purchasing a Samsung galaxy s24 Ultra in the next week or 2. Amazing what it can do! Looking forward to sharing photos from a better camera.
Oh yes, it's fun to have an awesome camera. My iPhone is pretty great/convenient, but I have to admit my little SX610 HS Canon with 18X optical zoom was so wonderful on my trip to Italy. I could zoom in & take pictures from really far away. I actually used it as binoculars a few times. Ha! Looking forward to your photos. xoxo
I always try to take pictures when my husband and I go on our outings but he won't ever stop the car so I can get more than a blur or a bug splattered windshield lol
I laughed at the story about the windshield photo. It was funny, but I felt happy. When you're not going out, there are fun things around and inside the house. You can wear clothes from your youth, have a show by yourself, take photos, and then think about decluttering, remodeling, and rebuilding. I think taking photos of autumn leaves in your neighborhood would be fun. Please make it a wonderful hobby.
I didn't realize that taking a million photos was an aging thing as much as a blog writer thing. I'm always taking pictures "in case" I need one to go with a blog post. I haven't started taking photos of dead mice yet..... 😂🤗
That’s because you take gorgeous pictures and are a serious photographer. I’m just trying to fill time as I age. Ha! Matter-of-fact, I’m watching a bluejay torment a rabbit in our backyard right now, wondering if I should try to get a picture. 😂 🙄
3 days ago I took a picture of my 11 year old grandson in his pink blowup shark Halloween costume playing 3 on 3 soccer( what a wordy sentence ) ! It was hilarious! When he saw it he thought it was so funny and he was right!
Reading your description reminds me just how important it is to find beauty in unexpected places. The last photo I took was of Olivia, our little pug ❤
My last photo was of the most beautiful Kentucky sunset with all the colors. Jan I love the story you tell about all your different photos, I love taking photos of family sunrises and sunsets my husband and I though I dont like my photos at all. As I was reading I was thinking of the pictures I didn’t take. Pictures of my dad and my sister Kristi. I regret not take more because they are now gone. I look back but in reality I have mental pictures of my dad and Kristi. I will make time to stop and make those special memories with my family more I’m just glad I have a IPhone that still has storage. Thank you again for sharing.
Jan Stonebut's photographs are fun, there are many different things, some surprising, and some showing the withering and transience of life. Please do show us some more. My hobbies are calligraphy and origami, which I also like and have taken a lot of them. Some of the photos are surprising. The sky and clouds are moving, so if you don't take the photo at the exact moment, they will be gone. Animals, insects, and flowers also move around, so once you decide on your aim, you can snap the moment. Everyone takes photos of flowers. I'm also interested in beautiful things. I would like to take photos of ant nests, beehives, and spider webs, but it's not easy to come across them. I think it's also fun to show each other the photos you're proud of.
I'm obsessed with taking pictures lately of everything in nature and art. Oh, and taking pictures of my husband. I say to myself taking picture is for inspiration but it's all about changing my perspective. I don't want to get caught up in seeing the world from a vanilla POV. I'm learning to appreciate my surroundings. Caveat: I don't take pictures while on vacation. I like to stay in the moment. Taking pictures seems to rob me of the experience, it's like I'm breaking the connection. Did I mention that when my mother died we had 37 boxes of photos in storage? Yeah, there's that. I'm down to two... from 2013, that's pretty good, right? As always I love your work. You make me smile, sometimes through my tears... but finding you in my inbox is never dull!
My last photo is little pink flamingos sitting around a sink

😂 I can relate to that. Most of the time I have to catch my husband off guard when he’s not looking. Thanks for the morning laugh.

My last photo is a picture of who else, but my dog Oreo. He's curled in a little ball with his eyes closed and he looks totally innocent. HA! 🤣
