It´s not always easy to find your peace. It took me many years to learn that I enjoy sketching and painting. I’m not great at either of them, but I can do it in the evenings while I’m watching TV to unwind before bed. I love it. I’m sketching my own Christmas Cards to paint this year. I always enjoy your writings. Thank you for these bright spots.
Too funny! Love the "Lot's wife" comment. As I recall, Graham talked about this in one of his podcasts. I remember thinking it sounded fascinating, but not sure I would get up the courage to try one. I thought it would be only a west coast thing, but it turns out there are several here in Cincinnati. Who knew? Sounds like you liked it. Hmmm..just maybe.....
Hi Philip ~ Yes, I heard about it first on GW’s Podcast. He described it in more detail in a recent interview with Drew Weatherhead. Did you see that interview? It sounds as if he had a real out-of-body experience. He said he wasn’t high or have any drugs in his system. The interview went into more detail about his use of psychedelics too. That makes me really uncomfortable. Personally, I just had a nice relaxing hour. I went to Perrysburg. I’m sure there are a lot of them around you. It’s kinda expensive: $65 for the first time, more $ later. Let me know if you try it. It's definitely a mood-lifter. Here’s a link so you can see what it’s like. ( It loads a little slowly sometimes.) https://truerest.com
Wow, thanks for the link! When I get back on my feet (so to speak), I will look into it. I have been in Perrysburg. In fact, I lived in Sylvania and Ottawa Hills many years ago. I'm with you. Not at all comfortable with the psychedelics. That relaxing hour sounds like heaven to me.
I loved it! Thanks for sharing your experience in such a fun way. It would be very tough for me to get inside one of those tanks, I don’t know if I could close the door. The best possible way I found to connect with myself is when I walk by the beach, it gives me an incredible feeling of freedom and I feel on the hands of God. 🌼
Oh, Elizabeth ~ the beach is definitely my "God-place." I feel closer to the Divine there than I ever did in church -- or anywhere else. The float tank is completely different: you feel completely weightless, there is NO sound, etc. It's kinda a difficult feeling to describe. It's kinda a "nothingness." You don't have to close the lid & you are free to open it at any time -- so I gave it a try. I was worried too because I'm claustrophobic, but it didn't bother me at all. Attaching a link to show you the tank. https://truerest.com Thanks for always reading my posts. xoxo
Thank you Jan! I love your blog and this time I laughed a lot reading you, I imagined getting out of the tank with my body full of salt. I went to the link, it looks interesting.
My house is 200 meters from the beach, so when I come back from school I go there to recharge my batteries.
I have not tried a float tank. I have looked up several places in my area for one. Just haven’t signed up yet. I have a gong that I ring every morning and sometimes sit in the quiet. I like silence…however, my mind wonders occasionally. Next step for me…just sign up. Thanks..🤗
Hi Elaine ~ the place I went you could register on-line so I did it on the spur of the moment. Then I had to go. Ha! I've been looking into joining a Yoga group. Just haven't done it. You & I will just have to "take a leap" together. Keep me informed. xoxo
Love the story and blog! I could not do the enclosed tank, too claustrophobic and not that fond of water. I find it relaxing to sit outside on the patio, in the dark, listen to the night sounds and reflect on the day.
Hi Diane ~ yes, sitting out back in the dark is a great way to unwind. Right now, however, the tree frogs are deafening here. Ha ha! I thought I'd have to leave the lid up because I'm claustrophobic too, but I didn't. Of course, I love water. Fun experience.
Enjoyed your writing . Don't know if I would like this. There are other ways to connect to yourself. Be still in a quiet place away from everything . Thanks for sharing.
Hi Susie ~ oh yes, there are lots of ways to connect to yourself. I also love walking in the woods, meditating at the park, paddling around in my own pool. This way was just so unique. And, the sensory deprivation part of the tank made it so much easier than anything else to get rid of the left brain chatter. Thanks for reading my post!
Thank you for this wonderful writing of yours.I will try the float tank.I am doing the aqua aerobics 3 times a week. This is my exercise it helps me going while I am aging.
Hi Elisa ~ let me know how your experience goes when you do it. I'd love to hear. I need to go again. I have a friend who lost her husband. She's been having trouble sleeping; but since she's been going to the float tank regularly, things are getting better for her in that area. Thanks for reading my blog!
What kind of English did you teach? Did you teach it as a second language? I taught American Literature, research writing, grammar, composition, all kinds of oral communication courses and some sociology classes. Most of my career was spent at the high school level; but after I retired from the public school system, I taught part time at a community college for 10 years. Here's to being a fellow teacher!!! Hugs & High 5's
Jan I taught Grammar and Composition (English 1-4 in College) this is way back home in the Philippines.Just to let you know that our medium of instruction there is English. When we migrated in Canada they did not carry my qualifications so I went back to school I took Early Childhood Education.I opened my business (daycare) until now.I also taught Sociology way back home.I am turning 80 and I am planning to sell the business.Time Has Come to slow down and take life one day at a time.
Hi Lynn ~ I'm putting a link on here so you can see the tank. It's bigger than you think. I could kneel in it & still have lots of space above me. Good News! You don't have to close the lid if you don't want. I get the claustrophobia -- they had to sedate me once for an MRI. Ha! (This experience is nothing like that...) Thanks for reading my post! https://truerest.com
I am so glad you were able to experience the float tank , that’s my bucket list after my trachea will be de cannulated. A beautiful written Jan and my Hyperbaric treatments experienced almost the same except no water with very high pressure and twice they have to put tubes both of my ears. My first few treatments were in a capsule individually and they used that after each of my surgery. I had over a year of hyperbaric treatments at Mayo and I am grateful as they figure out that I was lacking of oxygen thru my blood so I couldn’t heal all my transposed tissues.
Hi Lucy ~ it's definitely something to look forward to. I put a link here so you can a picture of the float tank I was in -- it's probably WAY LESS intimidating than being put in that capsule. You have experienced so much & still come out with that beautiful smile. I admire you! https://truerest.com
Thank you Jan and yes I check this out and wanted to do it so bad but I couldn’t. I will wait patiently and with Gods blessings by this end year I might? It’s all Gods plan 🙏❤️
Hi Susan ~ I get it! I thought I would be too. I'm glad I closed the lid because when I opened it was really cold in the room. Inside the tank is warm probably because of the condensation. They have a bottle in there to spray off your face in case salt gets in your eyes. I can't believe that didn't happen to me -- I had salt everywhere else. ha ha! ( PS You are able to open the lid any time you want.) Thanks for reading my blog!
I am thankful for the sound of the rain! I lol forward to reading your writings.
Thanks so much, Tricia! I hope as much as I enjoy your postings!!! Ah, yes ~ water is certainly healing.
Sounds very peaceful. I know Graham Wardle had a wonderful experience in the float tank.
Yes, that's where I first heard about it. It is very peaceful, Donna. I think GW had an extraordinary experience!!!

It's in the shopping mall called Levi Commons right off of 75 -- but I'm sure there's one closer to you.

Jan, what an experience. Thanks for sharing. I bet it was relaxing. I enjoy reading your writings! Take care and God bless!
Hi Anne ~ I look forward to your writings too! Hugs & High 5's -- to a sister blogger, GW fan & true believer. xoxo

Another enjoyable read Jan….. Would love too try it ! but I think I would have a panic attack when the lid was close.

Do you mean you don't know what to write about or you don't know how the procedure works? I can help you with that. Just let me know.
