When I was a little girl, I couldn’t wait for Santa Claus. My sister and I would wait by our bedroom window. We were sure we could hear Santa’s reindeer on our roof.
“Becoming” Santa Claus to our two little girls was so much fun for me. Of course, my husband was the one who had sliced fingers putting together the metal kitchen set I got them one year. Ha!
Now that everyone is grown up in our family, my husband and I look forward to our yearly walks through the Fantasy of Lights – a beautiful Christmas display in Upper Sandusky.
Started in 1997, the Fantasy of Lights is now recognized as one of the best displays in Ohio.
Hundreds of sponsors and volunteers create unique displays — set them up, then tear them down. Other volunteers take donations at the gates from the hundreds of cars that drive thru Dec. 1-30.
Colorful lights are everywhere in the 33 acre Harrison Smith Park.
Wyandot County, a close-knit rural community, uses the proceeds from Fantasy of Lights to support local non-profits. Each year the chosen recipients share $30-35,000.
And in this time of chaos — when it’s not surprising to greet others with “People are crazy!” — my husband and I enjoy being surrounded by hundreds of happy walkers singing “I Wish You A Merry Christmas.”
It’ll Be Ok.
