The countdown is on -- the party’s about to get started -- it’s Crunch Time. This is the last week of rehearsals. Opening Night for our Benefit production of M*A*S*H is this Friday night.
In this week’s blog I wanted to share some pre-production photos of my wonderful Cast. I will share the “finished” product – completed set, costumes, lights. I will write more about the experience after the production is over.
Believe it or not, one of the funnier scenes is when Hawkeye and Duke try to save Walt, the dentist, from wanting to commit suicide.
It’s hilarious when the BonWit triplet, the worst U.S.O. act ever sent overseas, shows up at the M*A*S*H compound, mesmerizing the male soldiers, but alienating the females.
Here the very pro-American Ho Jon teaches children what America is like. I almost crack up every time she says, “ In America when you are hungry, you eat something called the French Fry and the Overheated Dog.” And the little one in the orange shirt answers, “ Dog tastes good.”
The doctors have a soft spot for Ho Jon so they hold a football game to raise money to send the house servant to medical school in the United States. The college dean isn’t so sure about that because he has had experience with Hawkeye and Duke before.
The play ends as Hawkeye and Duke leave South Korea — pulling one last prank on Colonel Blake.
This project is both exciting and scary. I heard that someone in the community said recently, “I can’t believe she’s doing this at her age.” Ha!
It’ll Be OK.
