Part 2
How many times have you heard an adult sigh, “Oh, to be a kid again”?
Well, why not allow yourself to be that creative, adventurous, positive little boy or little girl who still lives inside of you once in awhile? According to the website https://lifestyle.allwomenstalk.com/delightful-advantages-of-acting-like-a-child/ releasing that inner child is a huge stress reliever. And, it’s fun!
One of the best things about getting older in my life was becoming a kid again.
I loved pretending & dressing up in costumes when I was younger.
After I retired, I was really excited when my daughter asked me to help teach her students to write paragraphs. So naturally, I pulled out my Wonder Woman costume and started the Super Writer club for her second graders. The kids & I wore our capes, X-ray glasses and Kryptonite armbands to increase our strength, speed and stamina while leaping over challenging writing assignments.
And I couldn’t resist becoming the Queen when a group asked me to moderate their Spelling Bee. I laughed every time I b-u-z-z-e-d another incorrect answer at that Fundraiser.
Talk about laughing. There was the time I organized a new hands-on ministry for kids in Grades K-5 called REACH. I got the bright idea we needed a mascot that represented trying new things — “sticking your neck out.” So, of course, I dressed up as Luther the Turtle. I had so much fun greeting the kids the first day – that is until I approached a little kindergartner. The kid took one look at the giant turtle and started screaming. His mother turned to me in utter disgust & said, “Do you mind backing off? I’ve had enough trouble getting him here today.” I’m not sure how turtles actually sound or if they can back up, but I was snickering inside that big head as I lumbered away.
Why don’t YOU try releasing your inner child? IT’S ACTUALLY FUN!!! And, I guarantee it will relieve your stress.
Did you like to color when you were a kid? Why not draw chalk murals on your driveway?
Were you always singing as a child? Surprise your neighbors; serenade them some Saturday night.
Did you like to build models, race cars? How about having a Sr. Citizen Soapbox Derby?
Were LEGOs your favorite toy? Be a kid again. Create the largest LEGO village ever seen on your front lawn.
Go Crazy!

WHAT DID YOU LOVE TO DO AS A CHILD?
Jan, that is so creative and fun! My cousin taught middle schoolers. When she taight them sbout the Sistine Chapel she had them all get on the floor and paint paper attached to the bottom of their desks to feel what it must hsve been like for Leonardo Da Vinci. Teachers like you and her are what makes school fun for kids.
I used to draw and color a lot. I wanted to design clothes. My career turned out to design ads for every kind of company imaginable. I loved swimming and learned to love travel and adventure when my family, (Mom, Dad, 2 sisters & 2 uncles) drove from California to South Carolina & Washington, DC.
These kids were blessed to have you in their classroom. You made a positive difference in their lives. You are making one on our lives too.
I love it! It's practically what I do every day at school. My students are the pandemic kids, it's the first year they go to face-to-face classes, so they think the teacher is just another kid they can play with.
